In Pahala, Honokaa edged Ka’u 12-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 15-10 to claim an automatic berth to the Hawaii High School Athletic Association tournament.
In Pahoa, Kohala outlasted the Daggers 17-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-27, 15-13, forcing a playoff game between the 4-7 teams at 7 p.m. Monday in Kapaau.
The Dragons (7-4) await the winner at 2:30 Friday in the BIIF semifinals at Kealakehe High. In the 4 p.m. semifinal, Hawaii Prep (6-5) faces the Trojans (5-6).
The Division I semifinals follow. Kamehameha (11-0), which already owns a state spot, takes on Kealakehe (6-5) at 5:30 p.m., and Waiakea (10-1) and Hilo (9-2) meet at 7 p.m.
There is one more state spot available in both D-I and D-II.
